Hats for Good Neighbor Center
November 10, 2017
This year for our community donation we have decided to put a call out for knit hats to be given to Good Neighbor Center in Tigard. With the cold winter months coming, there are many families without permanent living situations who rely on the services Good Neighbor Center offers. They provide beds and meals to families in critical need, and they are largely supported by volunteers in the community. So we as knitters and crocheters wanted to contribute what we’re best at - hand knit and crocheted hats! Since this is a family center, hats of all shapes, sizes and colors are needed. We would like to collect them through the end of the year to be donated in January. For a full list of services and needs that Good Neighbor Center has, visit their website. One of the things we like about Good Neighbor Center is that what is donated locally stays local!
This basic ribbed pattern is great for hats that are being donated because they stretch to accommodate heads of many shapes and sizes. This is Basic Ribbed Hat by Anne Laird, knit with Cascade 220 Superwash Wave, which does a fun gradual color change.
Bruce Yak from Canon Hand Dyes
November 06, 2017
Meet Bruce from Canon Hand Dyes, a wonderful 3-ply smooth base of superwash merino and yak. The yak in this yarn gives the colors this yarn an amazing softness and a rich depth of color! At 435 yards per skein, it is ideal for a scrumptiously cozy pair of socks or a super soft and luxurious next-to-skin accessory. Amy Lee designed a palette of 12 fall inspired jewel tones especially for this base to highlight the uniqueness of the special yarn.
Malabrigo! Malabrigo! Malabrigo!
August 18, 2017
With this hot weather lately, it's hard to think that Fall is just a little over a month away! Fall is one of the most fun times of year in a yarn store because we receive our orders for the season. This week, four huge boxes arrived from Malabrigo which are always so much fun to open because of all of their beautiful, vibrant colors. They have introduced some speckle colorways in Mechita and Arroyo that are absolutely stunning! There are also a couple of new colors in Rios and Caracol that live up to Malabrigo's reputation for color.
