Malabrigo! Malabrigo! Malabrigo!

August 18, 2017

With this hot weather lately, it's hard to think that Fall is just a little over a month away!  Fall is one of the most fun times of year in a yarn store because we receive our orders for the season.  This week, four huge boxes arrived from Malabrigo which are always so much fun to open because of all of their beautiful, vibrant colors. They have introduced some speckle colorways in Mechita and Arroyo that are absolutely stunning!  There are also a couple of new colors in Rios and Caracol that live up to Malabrigo's reputation for color.

New Spring Yarn

As we longingly look forward to Spring, we start thinking about yarns that will be a little cooler for the warming weather.  Cascade introduced Anchor Bay to its Spring line of yarns.  It's an easy-care blend of Superwash Merino and Cotton.  The wool helps the yarn keep beautiful stitch definition while the cotton lightens it up and makes it incredibly soft and breathable.  We knit Fly Swatter Hat by Amy Miller for our store sample and love how the cables pop and hold their shape!  We also think Sunshine Coast sweater by Heidi Kirrmaier would look so good knit out of it for a nice multi-season garment.

adriafil knitcol sweater knitting pure and simple

A couple weeks we received a new-to-us line from Adriafil called KnitCol.  It is dyed in a way that makes it stripe and pattern so it makes simple stockinette look super fancy!  We immediately thought of a child's sweater, but it would also look really nice as a hat, leg warmers, mittens.  It's available in a wide array of beautiful color combinations.

Pattern is Knitting Pure and Simple - Great, straight forward patterns!

New!! Candy Skein

candy skein yummy fingering

Last week a beautiful shipment of Yummy Fingering from Candy Skein arrived!  Tami from Candy Skein worked with a mill to create the base for Yummy Fingering, so it is exclusive for her!  At 463 yards each skein has a lot of yardage, but still has a nice body to it - not too thin.  It has been super popular for multi-color projects because the tonal palette works really well together.  And each color also looks equally good by itself.  It's a blend of 75/25 Superwash Merino and Nylon, so it would be strong enough for a pair of socks, and soft enough for a next-to-skin accessory.  Come in to feel for yourself!
