Project Inspiration

January 13, 2017

This week our project inspiration is two hats by Okanagan Knit Co. who are three knit-loving girls in the Okanagan valley of BC who strive to produce knits inspired by the beautiful scenery that surrounds them.

The Ponderosa Hat is their newest design.  Knit out of DK weight, the pinecone stitch pattern on this slouchy hat is fun to work and easy to memorize.  As an added bonus, it looks great inside out as well!  It is best worked in a solid or tonal color.  Our sample is knit out of Cascade 220 Superwash.

Gellatly Hat is a slouchy style hat has a modern tree motif surrounding the body.  The trees are formed by working a pattern of knits and purls.  This hat also looks best in a solid or tonal yarn.  Our sample is knit out of Malabrigo Rios in Frank Ochre.

Project of the Month

speargrass hat plymouth gina

Each month we choose a project that highlights a special skill.  This month we have chosen Speargrass Hat by Susie Gourlay.  It features a two-row lace chevron pattern that is very well suited for self-striping yarn, reminiscent of speargrass found on the prairies.  We knit our store sample in Plymouth's Gina for a fun self-striping chevron effect.  Perfect for keeping your head warm during our cold, cold weather.
