Houndstooth Placemat Workshop (2 days, 3 hours class time total) $60

Thursday May 23, 1-2:30 or 3-4:30 - warp
Friday May 24, 1-2:30 - weave

Learn to warp and weave the Houndstooth pattern, sew double “Italian” hemstitch, use two shuttles and measure your work in this two day workshop. The first afternoon we will warp the looms and the second afternoon you’ll begin weaving. The class is intended for advanced beginners who have experience warping and weaving on a rigid heddle loom. Students will make 2 placemats (12.25” X 14.25”) using cotton yarn. The finished project can be used as 2 guest towels if you don’t want placemats!

Prerequisite: Have experience warping and weaving on a rigid heddle loom.

Required: loom with 15” minimum weaving width, yarn, 2 shuttles, tapestry needle, scrap yarn for header, warp separator (packing paper, etc).
**If interested in renting a loom, please inquire at 503-372-9318

Provided: pattern with photos, measuring clips, tape, ribbon separators between placemats.

Yarn: Berroco Modern Cotton and Cascade Nifty Cotton work well for this project. Other worsted weight yarn is acceptable. Yarn should be 2 contrasting solid colors. Approx 176 yards warp and 106 yards weft.

Before class: Purchase yarn and have it wound into a ball. Decide which color you wish to use as the border of your placemats.

**Class Policies:

In order to provide a pleasant learning environment for the entire class, students are expected to be respectful, courteous, and kind to their fellow classmates. The instructor has the right to dismiss individuals who are not maintaining a positive class dynamic.
