Click For Babies

July 17, 2017

Every year knitters and crocheters pick up their hooks, needles and yarn to make purple baby hats to help raise awareness for Shaken Baby Syndrome.  The campaign starts in early summer and the little baby hats are then picked up the end of September to be sorted and handed out to new parents in November and December.  Summer is the perfect time to knit baby hats!!  They are small, quick projects that travel well!  Visit the Click for Babies website for finished size specifications.

This year I tried a couple new patterns to keep things interesting.
Tensfield by Martina Behm is a fun and interesting pattern.  It has a very clever construction that is simple yet unique.  This one is knit out of Cascade 220 Aran Splatter

Berry Baby Hat
And the ever popular Berry Baby Hat by Michele Sabatier is one of the most adorable hats for babies!!  If you've been wanting to try some colorwork, this is a great introduction to get your toes wet, and you will have a great hat at the end!

Ewe So Sporty has a purple and blue that make a really nice "boyish" purple hat.  I used colors Indigo and Sky Blue in the pattern Basic Baby Hat.

We have scheduled a community knitting time on Wednesdays from 3-5:30 where you can join other knitters who are knitting to donate.  It's a fun way to spend the afternoon and get to know some fellow knitters.

We've stocked up on purple yarn in many different shades, and when you're finished knitting, simply drop the hats off at Nitro Knitters and we will make sure they get into the right hands!
Have a good summer and happy knitting :)
